Following the Allied invasion of Normandy, two brothers lay dead in the wake of the onslaught. Meanwhile, in New Guinea, a third brother has been killed fighting the Japanese. After the Army General Staff learns that a fourth brother is missing in the French countryside, a rescue mission is ordered to find the young soldier and return him safely home. The mission is mounted by a veteran Ranger Captain commanding a squad of men who have mixed feelings about risking their lives to "Save Private Ryan".

Film ini dibintangi oleh Tom Hanks, Tom Sizemore, Edward Burns, Barry Pepper, Vin Diesel, Giovanni Ribisi, Adam Goldberg, Jeremy Davies, dan Matt Damon. Film ini mengisahkan petualangan Kapten John H. Miller dalam usaha penyelamatan seorang prajurit bernama Ryan yang kehilangan ke-3 saudaranya dalam perang dan diperintahkan untuk kembali ke Amerika Serikat oleh departemen peperangan Amerika Seikat....heroik...!!!

- A boring start but a GREAT ADVENTURE. It has the perfect element of all that I know. They have a great cast but I think Tom Hanks is a miscast. I never liked him as an actor (except Forrest Gump). Him being a warrior is a big no for me. But nevertheless he did great but it could have been better. Spielberg is great and he will always be :D

- Best WWII movie ever! Spielberg is a genius! casted right,acted perfectly! Really gives you feeling of what it was like during the war.This is Tom Hanks at his very best,his performance in this movie is awe-inspiring and just plain perfect! Hollywood do not ever re-make this movie!

- Every American should see this movie - especially those with family members whom are veterans of WWII. I am sure Spielberg is most proud of "Schindler's List", but this movie is at least as affecting, and no less important. The action sequences set a new bar for war movie realism. This movie suffered one of the most egregious slights in movie history when it lost the Best Picture nod to the forgettable "Shakespeare In Love". I am pissed off just writing about it. Harrowing, tragic, and uplifting all at once. A masterpiece.

- i for my part am fed up of those good, brave americans / evil others movies and this is exactly what this movie is hated every minute of it: - the good brave american guys - the only german they meet and let live returns to try to kill them - the wish to safe that one unknown, random, guy but the defense of the bridge was in a league of it's own, and Tom Hanks, on the ground, shooting his pistol at a tank ... pathetic, patriotic, pointless
